Royal Academy of Engineering Fellowship for Prof Lingwood Share this 01 Oct 2019 Our Provost Prof Rebecca Lingwood has been elected as a Fellow to the renowned Royal Academy of Engineering.She was one of just 54 engineers from around the world to receive the sought-after accolade in recognition of her outstanding contribution to engineering. Prof Lingwood is internationally recognised as a leading authority in laminar-turbulent transition of complex fluid flows. She is a transformational academic leader and previously held positions at Oxford, Cambridge and Queen Mary before joining 成人直播app as Provost in August 2018. Professor Julia Buckingham CBE, Vice-Chancellor and President of Brunel, said: “Election to a fellowship of the Royal Academy of Engineering is one of the highest accolades possible for an engineer, I am delighted for Rebecca and very proud of her.“Brunel has a long history of being at the forefront of engineering research, and this award is just further proof that we’re home to some of the world’s very finest engineers.” All the new Fellows will be formally admitted to the Academy at an event in London on Monday 30 September, and they will add their expertise to the Fellowship of nearly 1,600 eminent engineers from both industry and academia.Five-time Formula One World Champion Lewis Hamilton was also this year admitted to the Academy as an Honorary Fellow in recognition of his role in inspiring interest in engineering, especially among young people. The Royal Academy of Engineering brings together the most successful and talented engineers to advance and promote excellence in engineering. It is heavily involved in engineering education and research funding, and works to improve public awareness and understanding of engineering, with four key aims: Drive faster and more balanced economic growth; foster better education and skills; lead the profession and promote engineering at the heart of our society.
