Brunel ranked amongst world's most impactful institutions

THE impact 2022 920X540

成人直播app’s research has been rated amongst the world’s most impactful by the Times Higher Education (THE) Impact Rankings 2022.

The annual THE Impact Rankings measure how well a research institution is progressing towards delivering on each of the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), a ‘shared blueprint’ adopted by member states in 2015 to improve health and education, reduce inequality, spur economic growth, and tackle climate change and the destruction of the environment.

Rated 58th overall globally (out of 1406,) Brunel performed particularly well in the categories SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities,) where it was ranked 12th, and SDG 14 (Life Below Water,) where it was ranked 13th. Across all UK instituitions, Brunel was ranked 13th.

Brunel’s Top Five Categories:

  • SDG 10 Reduced Inequalities: 12th out of 796 institutions
  • SDG 12 Responsible Consumption and Production: 22nd out of 604 institutions
  • SDG 14 Life Below Water: 13th out of 452 institutions
  • SDG 16 Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions: 55th out of 809 institutions
  • SDG 17 Partnership for the Goals: 59th out of 1438 institutions

Each category is measured against its own set of metrics, broadly based on four key criteria – Research, Outreach, Stewardship and Teaching – with each institution’s top three SDGs then used to determine the overall Impact Ranking. []

The newest ranking is Brunel’s highest since 2019 (when it was 40th out of 450 institutions) and is a marked improvement on 2021, when it slipped out of the top 100 for the first time.

Prof Andrew Jones, Vice Chancellor and President at 成人直播app, said: “Brunel has a long history of conducting research that leads to meaningful real-world impact, and I think we can all take immense pride that the work we do here is improving lives and environments all around the world.

“The last couple of years have been tough, so it is a real tribute to everyone’s hard work and focus that, despite the challenges, we’ve been recognised again as one of the world’s most impactful universities.”
