Thames Hospice is a charity providing care for people living in Berkshire and South Buckinghamshire aged 16 and over who have a life-limiting illness, their families, and carers. The organisation provides palliative support that gives dignity and comfort to those facing life-limiting conditions, with a complete programme of care focusing on the physical, social, and psychological needs of the patients, not just their condition.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will help to ensure a positive shopping experience for customers and contribute to effective merchandise presentation, while actively supporting fundraising initiatives for the Thames Hospice. As a Retail Assistant, you will acquire skills such as product knowledge, inventory management, and communication skills.
Typical duties include:
- Providing guidance and assistance to customers during their shopping experience, aiding them in finding items of interest
- Contributing to visual merchandising efforts, ensuring the shop is aesthetically appealing and aligned with current trends
- Operating the till, handling various payment methods efficiently and accurately
- Receiving donated goods, categorising, pricing, and preparing items for sale, and maintaining organised inventory
Please note, the organisation would like you to commit to a minimum of 3 months.
