Hillingdon Autistic Care and Support (HACS) is a local charity supporting autistic children and young people. The organisation raises awareness, advocate and promote inclusion for autistic people.

Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:

In this role you will be involved in supporting and nurturing the autistic adult clients run a creative arts social space where participants can connect with like-minded peers who share common interests which aids in facilitating social interactions. You will acquire skills such as group empathy, becoming an active listener and understanding group dynamics.

Typical duties include:

  • Initiating conversations with autistic adults, focusing on their interests, particularly in creative arts, and actively engage them in discussions.
  • Fostering conversation among adults, encouraging their participation and ensuring all individuals have a chance to contribute
  • Hosting and planning activities that align with the interests and hobbies of the autistic adults, providing opportunities for them to engage in their preferred creative arts
  • Creating a welcoming and inclusive environment that allows autistic adults to express themselves, connect with others, and enjoy their chosen hobbies

Please note, the organisation would like you to commit to a minimum of 3 months and this organisation requires a DBS check.
