Otermans Institute (OI) is a social enterprise providing transferable and employability skills training across Iraq, Nepal, Bangladesh, and India. The organisation offers physical training and virtual teaching through artificial intelligence to students that were forced out of school due to the pandemic, are in extremely remote locations, and have been affected by violence and warlike refugees in United Nations camps. The company`s profits are donated to the NHS and front-line services.
Details of the Volunteering Opportunity:
In this role, you will support engaging learners who have a hearing impairment, helping them to use and understand the AI technology developed to produce educational materials in sign language, including the avatar that translates pre-recorded spoken work like videos into sign language. As an AI and Data Volunteer, you will learn a set of skills such as data analysis, machine learning, data cleaning and processing, model development, model evaluation, feature engineering, data visualisation, and data privacy.
Typical duties include:
- Collecting, cleaning, and analysing data from various sources
- Writing and proofreading pieces, focusing on a human-centered AI
- Exploring datasets using statistical techniques and visualisations to identify patterns and trends
- Generate insights that can guide further analysis and modeling decisions
Please note, this role requires a CV and the organisation would like you to commit to a minimum of 3 months.
