Brunel social work graduate elected as a Labour councillor for Watford Borough Council

Brunel MA social work graduate (2017), Favour Ify Ezeifedi, was recently elected as a Labour Councillor for Watford.

Favour Ify Ezeifedi portrait photo is the first black African to be elected a councillor in Watford Borough Council. Favour is a mental health social worker, currently serving as the Team Leader of a Trailblazer Mental Health Support Teams, East Herefordshire CAMHS. 

Favour Facilitated a mental health roundtable with MIND for the Shadow Cabinet during last Labour National Conference. 'I am a different type of politician’ explained Favour, ‘because I am a social worker. I am privileged to advocate for the most vulnerable in the community. I understand what it means to be vulnerable. My social work training equipped me with social work values of empathy, support for self-determination and human rights. I always bring this perspective to debates in the chamber. My fellow councillors are confident in my social work knowledge advice and my abilities to inform decisions for Watford residents” with this: “My fellow councillors are confident in my social work knowledge and experience to inform decisions for Watford residents’.
