Constituency Campaigning: Fisher was the PI on three major ESRC-funded projects on the 2015, 2017 and 2019 UK General Elections. CIs included collaborators from the Universities of Manchester, Bath and Birmingham.
Multiculturalism: Uberoi collaborates extensively with Professor Modood (University of Bristol). Their many publications on multiculturalism have been recognised as forming a distinct school of multicultural political thought. Together they organised a symposium in 2019, published in the leading journal Ethnicities, that focuses on this school of thought. Due to Uberoi’s status as an authority on multiculturalism, he is also a sought-after collaborator worldwide. For example, in 2019, Uberoi was awarded £7,000 by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) and the Indian Council of Philosophical Research (ICPR) for a project (with Dr Bharath Kumar at IIT Tirupati) on Indian Conceptions of Multiculturalism.
Deforestation in Brazil: the Brunel Centre for Entrepreneurship and Sustainability sponsored Dale’s cutting-edge work on deforestation in Brazil, which is a major contributing factor towards wildfires in the Brazilian rainforest, themselves heavily linked to climate change. As part of his broader research agenda on political ecology, Dale used the grant from the Centre to collaborate with leading researchers at the prestigious Getúlio Vargas Foundation in Brazil. During his visit in 2019, Dale and his collaborators visited numerous agro-ecological farms, and conducted interviews with displaced indigenous people, congressional staff and NGOs.
Cross-border cooperation: building on her past work on EU-funded ‘small projects funds’ for cross-border regions, Sarmiento-Mirwaldt was awarded a contract from the Polish-German cross-border region ‘Euroregion Spree-Neisse-Bober’ in 2017. Sarmiento-Mirwaldt evaluated the capacity of the region’s small projects fund to foster lasting cross-border networks. She worked closely with local policy-makers and with beneficiaries from the fund. Her recommendations are already being implemented and resulted in a follow-up project with the Euroregion that will commence in 2020.
